The Defendant was charged with ‘Possession of an Offensive Weapon’, contrary to section 1(1) of the Prevention of Crime Act 1953. It was alleged that The Defendant had waved a baton outside of a Police Station.
The Defendant had mental health issues and after the litigator, Mr. Jonathan Mellody, conducted extensive work into her background and mental health issues the advocate Mr. Tariq Al Mallak was able to convince to the Court to sentence her to a conditional discharge. The Judge noted this was an exceptional circumstance.
