Historic Sex Crimes

Historic Sex Crimes can be very difficult to deal with due to the length of time between commission of the offence and trial. There will almost always be issues relating to evidence and it can be hugely emotional to try and gather all the relevant information.

MK Law is well experienced in dealing with difficulties such as this and handling all issues with care and sensitivity.

Historic Sex Crimes must be treated with great care and attention, the evidence available may not always be as clear cut as in other cases and so it is important to scrutinise everything that is available.

Sentencing in Historic Sex cases are on the basis of the current Sentencing Guidelines, not those that existed at the time of the offence, however the older provisions may prove useful in deciding a maximum sentence.

As with other Sexual Offences, certain circumstances will be relevant to sentence, such as the age of the victim at the time of the offence, whether there was an abuse of trust or if there was any use of force.

If you are accused of an Historic Sex offence, you should seek legal advice immediately.

It is vital that you receive the best advice possible and provide as much detail of the facts of your case as you can to ensure the right result for you.

MK Law is on hand to help you through all stages of the process.
