This was a multi-handed case at Croydon Crown Court and concerned fraudulent claims submitted to the Redundancy Payment Service in connection with a number of businesses. The value of the fraud was in excess of 1 million pounds. Our client was charged with conspiring to cheat the public revenue.
This case involved the careful analysis of a vast amount of financial evidence, which the prosecution relied on. The defendant stated that all claims that were made on her behalf were genuine which was supported by the presentation of the evidence. She was unaware of any false claims.
As a result of thorough and careful preparation of the case the result was an Acquittal for the defendant. A number of the co-defendants were convicted.
