Our client is the owner of an asbestos company in Basildon. They were charged with five counts:
- BEING CONCERNED IN THE PRODUCTION OF A CONTROLLED DRUG OF CLASS B, contrary to section 4(2)(b) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
- KIDNAPPING
- CAUSING GRIEVOUS BODILY HARM WITH INTENT, contrary to section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.
- BLACKMAIL, contrary to section 21(1) of the Theft Act 1968.
- INFLICTING GRIEVOUS BODILY HARM, contrary to section 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.
The jury returned a verdict of not guilty on all counts on the same day that they retired.
