Regularly appearing before the Magistrates’ Court, Jonathan provides expert advice, assistance, and advocacy across a broad range of criminal matters. He supports clients through every stage of the criminal justice process — from police station representation through to court proceedings — offering clear guidance and reassurance during what can often be a stressful and challenging time.
Having qualified through CILEx, Jonathan has developed a comprehensive understanding of criminal defence work and the wider criminal justice system. His practical knowledge, combined with his calm and client-focused approach, enables him to provide effective and compassionate representation.
In addition to his casework, Jonathan serves as a Specialist Reference Group Advisor for Crime to CILEx. In this role, he contributes to reviews and discussions aimed at improving the criminal justice system, providing advice and insight that helps shape CILEx policy and professional guidance on criminal law matters.
In recognition of his hard work, dedication, and leadership, Jonathan has been appointed as a Director at MK Law. In this role, he oversees and leads the firm’s Police Station Department, ensuring clients continue to receive the high standard of representation, support, and client care that MK Law is known for. The MK law team and my caseworker Jonathan Melody were able to get me one of the best result I could hope for in my case, they were understanding and professional! The solicitor Sunita Elliot and barrister Sarah Wilson were great in court. Actually i found their competence in court to be not of the cold kind like a first timer might expect but maybe something hinting at the culture of this firm and even a level of ‘higher competence’ a relatable and direct vibe. So in the end I was ferried through the various stages of court thinking to myself “this is probably how it should be”.
