Managing Director Manisha Knights has successfully secured six not guilty verdicts for our client following a nine-day trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
Our client faced seven counts, including allegations of rape, intentional strangulation, child cruelty and Actual bodily harm. Manisha mounted a robust defence, identifying significant inconsistencies in the complainant’s account and exposed her false asylum claims. These were further undermined by medical records, photographic evidence, and video footage.
The jury could not reach a verdict on one count of coercive & controlling behaviour, but it is anticipated that the Crown Prosecution service will offer no evidence on that count.
The impact of these allegations on our client has been utterly devastating. He was initially remanded in custody at HMP Belmarsh where he was held for 45 days before being bailed. Since the date of his arrest, he has not seen his child.
Our client has been living in has limbo throughout this ordeal since being arrested on 13th August 2023. While we are relieved that he has been acquitted, this case is yet another example of court time and public money being wasted on a prosecution that should never have got this far.
At MK Law, we remain committed to ensuring that justice prevails for every client we represent.
Manisha Knights commented:
“This was a case that should never have been brought before the courts. The evidence simply did not support the allegations, and the decision to continue the prosecution despite glaring weaknesses placed an unnecessary burden on both my client and the justice system. I am delighted that the jury got it right and saw through the false accusations and I sincerely hope that the Crown do the right thing in terms of the outstanding Count so that our client can begin rebuilding his life.”
