Dan Rubinstein – biography
Some of Dan’s previous cases that hit the headlines include that of a high profile murder of a cellmate in Feltham prison in 2000. He was part of the team representing the family who brought a case against the Home Secretary`s refusal to institute a Public Inquiry into the prison system that had so clearly negligently allowed such a murder to happen. The House of Lords ruled unanimously in favour of a Public Inquiry.
Dan also represented the family of Sally Hodkin who was murdered in 2011 by a mental patient who had been negligently permitted to be at liberty by her local Health Authority. The Health Authority made a substantial settlement out of court.
In 2004 Dan was part of the team representing a family of a victim in the reconvened Inquest into the New Cross fire of 1983.
Outside of these Civil Court actions, Dan is a Trustee of the Zahid Mubarek an award-winning charity that assists prisoners suffering victimisation and discrimination. You can find out more about the amazing work the Zahid Mubarek Trust does here.
Notable recent cases include a settlement out of court in favour of a man who was detained by armed police over an erroneous report that he threatened self-harm, and sundry cases where prisoners granted release by the Court were unlawfully kept in custody
